D5100 which sd card

Looks good. While your D won't need a card that fast, transferring the files to computer will be fast. If you plan to build up your card for your near-future next camera as well, then that's a good one for 4K recording. If you're planning on using it for the D only, then perhaps the same price can get you double the storage, or two cards, with the Samsung Select. It's all personal preferences, I guess, you won't go wrong sticking to those popular brands.

Happy shooting! Make sure you have at least a spare card on the trip. It's very inconvenient if the card breaks down for no reason. My D once corrupted a card in the middle of recording a video. I knew I would be able to recover the files if I don't overwrite them, so I just took the card out, flip the write-lock switch, and used another card instead.

At home, I was able to recover all files with Photorec, and still using the card just fine after reformatting. I inserted a SD card into the reader and plugged it into my phone and I can view images from the SD card, but cannot swipe between images. I have to back out of each image and then select another one. Not good enough. I need to be able to swipe from one image to the next. It's just a matter of using the right app. Is it worth the hefty price tag? We take a look at the Cine, the high-end model in this series.

Best cameras and lenses. The following SD memory cards have been tested and approved for use in the D Cards with class 6 or faster write speeds are recommended for movie recording. Recording may end unexpectedly when cards with slower write speeds are used. Note: Please check with the SD card manufacturer regarding features, specifications, warranty, and other items.

Nikon cannot assure compatibility with SD cards not listed above. Using a slower card will cause problems, such as the recording suddenly stopping. Sequential performance is important when large amounts of data needs to be written or read from the card. Cards that are slow will have difficulty handling continuous shooting and recording video. Almost all SD cards that have been made in the last few years will have a class 10 rating.

You can tell what class a card is by looking at the number inside a 'C' on the label. Or there will be a 1, 2, or 3 inside of a U, similar to how the class rating looks. Your email address will not be published. Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment.
